With so much time being spent in our houses, most of us have been spending more time indulging in the finer things in life — also known as Gin to Kenyans. Ever since the President announced the first lockdown back in March of 2020, the Gin craze took over Nairobi, and even with this second lockdown, things are no different.

Gin has been the go-to drink ever since our president announced that all restaurants and clubs be shut down — and with good reason. Most people swear that not only is it smooth & hangover-free (lol) it is super affordable compared to most hard liquor.

So how well do you know your gin mixers & garnishes? Today we take an in-depth look at different gins and the best mixers for them.

Hendricks Gin

Hendricks Gin is a small batch, handcrafted Gin with its origins in Scotland. It is clear in color and has a crisp and clean Juniper with a floral aspect to it.

Hendricks is best served with Tonic and garnished with Cucumber. Gin &Tonic being the epitome of an easy, flavorful Gin drink; it does not get better than the Hendricks and Tonic Combination!

Tanqueray №10

With its origins in England, the Tanqueray No.10 batch is distilled not less than 4 times with handpicked whole fruit botanicals.

It has a soft minty nose that shows more lines than Juniper giving it a mellow and pleasant taste.

Tanqueray No.10 is best served with a Grapefruit Julep garnished with a grapefruit wedge and a sprig of mint in a high ball glass.

Fun Fact: Tanqueray No. 10 is the only gin to be inducted into the SanFrancisco world spirits Hall of Fame.

Beefeater Dry

Owned by Pernod Ricard, Beefeater Gin is bottled and distributed in the UK. It is distilled from 100% grain spirit and contains nine different botanicals including Juniper, Angelica root and seeds, coriander seeds, Licorice, Almonds, Orris root, Seville Oranges, and Lemon peel.

To serve, Beefeater Dry goes great with Pink Grapefruit tonic water giving it that refreshing, citrusy & crisp flavor.
