He is probably one of the tallest colleagues we have ever had. Fun, chill, easy going and a people person. Meet Oliver Jack, the Logistics Associate who also dabbles as our Office Liason.

How long have you been working at AfricaSokoni and how would you describe your typical day like?

I have been at AfricaSokoni for about 9 months now…

My typical working day starts at 8.00 am. When I get to my workstation, the first thing is to do a follow up on items dispatched the previous day. This means finding out whether the delivery was successful or failed.

Once I am done with dispatch orders, I look at other pending orders and sort them. This process includes packing the items, allocating the orders to our in house delivery associates for dispatch and ensuring our customers are notified that their items are in transit.

What is your educational background and what role has it played in what you do for a living?

I am a holder of a bachelor’s degree in BBIT from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
One role my educational background has played in what I do for a living is that it has helped me solve career-related problems in a civil and literate manner.

Also, the fact that I schooled in a public university made me appreciate diversity and improve on my tolerance of different personalities which has made it easy for me to work basically with anyone.

What is the best thing about working at AfricaSokoni?

The best thing about working in Africa Sokoni for me is that the company and the people provide a conducive environment for growth. I also work with open-minded colleagues who make work fun & enjoyable.

What would you say is the hardest thing about your job?

Dealing with verbally abusive and irate customers.

My role requires that I more often than not deal with customers first-hand. Sometimes, delivery might be late and this may often lead to me dealing with an unhappy customer. Navigating through such situations sometimes can be a challenge.

Who are you outside AfricaSokoni?

Outside AfricaSokoni I would describe myself as an ambivert.

I am also a DJ, a freestyle dancer and a Fashion Enthusiast.

What would you say are your current top Books/Podcasts/activities (outside of work)

My current top books which I would highly recommend to anyone include The Art of War by Sun Tzu, The Daily Laws and 48 Laws of Power both by Robert Greene. While my all-time favourite book is Emotional Intelligence by Joseph Griffith.

If there is one Value you could instil in all your colleagues, what would that value be and why?

Tolerance would be the one value I would like to instil in my colleagues. I don’t have to be like you for us to peacefully coexist.

What is the one quote you live by?

I live by the quote: Know better. Do Better.
